About the Area

Correns is a small farming village located in the countryside behind the glitz and glamour of the Cote d’Azur and the landscape surrounding us offers majestic panoramas, lush vegetations, calm waters, hills and cliffs and the birthplace of a richly preserved biodiversity.

Correns has a rustic and timeless charm, steeped in centuries of agriculture and viniculture. But this ancient settlement also has a very special place in modern French history.  In 1997 Correns was nominated the country’s '1st Organic Village in France' and our farming community proudly produce organically grown wine, goats cheese, honey, olives, olive oil, truffles, eggs, chickens and a variety of seasonal vegetables all of which are available to purchase directly from the producers, in and around the village.

Correns is perfectly situated as a base from which to explore this wonderful and varied region, being close to beaches and the major tourist attractions and nature reserves.  Correns is the place for lovers of the outdoors and has developed as an adventure playground for adults and children alike.  Without having to leave our village you can:

  • Rock climb the internationally ranked crags of the Vallon Sourn
  • Hike the Bessillon mountain range
  • Kayak on the River Argens, starting in the village centre
  • Cycle the quiet country roads and trails through vineyards and forests
  • Mountain bike the rugged tracks of the Grand Bessillon
  • Horse ride through the forests and hills
  • Cool off in the nature reserve bathing spots of the Vallon Sourn
  • Play tennis, football or pétanque in the village centre
  • Entertain the children in the playground on the banks of the river

There are a  host of activities and tourist attractions for visitors of all ages in our department.  On arrival we provide a Welcome Book with our recommendations.  However, the best online source of information, in both French and English can be found on  www.provenceweb.fr
